We live in sensational times! It has been incredibly exciting to witness developments in blockchain technology and the NFT sphere over the last few years. How do we even begin to thank pioneers like OpenSea, SuperRare, Larva Labs, and BAYC? They are giants who have helped create and accelerate the NFT and Web3 economy — our gratitude is everlasting!
As we stand on their shoulders, we cannot help but feel that the current NFT landscape still only involves markets focused on buying, trading, and flipping. These markets operate like traditional stock markets, which do not honor the creative spirit, inexhaustible richness, and artistic significance of most NFTs.
With these thoughts in mind and after over a year of work in stealth mode, we are thrilled to reveal the art metaverse with a purpose we are currently crafting: VERTIKAL.
Where do you keep your NFTs?
NFTs today are still primarily viewable as metadata-filled entries on digital marketplaces or tiny, 40 pixel wide jpegs lost on a mobile wallet. These hardly do justice to the creativity and art behind artists’ works.
Such creativity should not be left to hide in the back of a digital closet. When IRL (in real life) collectors purchase works at galleries or auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christie’s, they loan them to museums and institutions, open foundations with seasonal curated programs, show them off atop their dining table, move them around so they actually get seen and shared.
This is why VERTIKAL is being created as a metaverse, purpose-built to publicly showcase and curate NFTs and digital art with a community-first approach. VERTIKAL draws its inspiration from masters of art, legendary architects, renowned city planners, and visionary art centers worldwide.
VERTIKAL aims to help each user create the best possible experience to showcase and curate their art while sharing with their community.
The tallest metaverse
As a 6,000-foot (1,800m) skyscraper that floats 555 feet (170m) off the ground, VERTIKAL is the tallest metaverse and, incidentally, the tallest building in the world. Its 115 levels are made up of private units and public areas to create the best possible experience for digital art lovers.
Residents of VERTIKAL each have private units where they can display their favorite NFTs and digital art. Each unit is customizable to the owner’s taste and can be private or open to the public. Available in multiple configurations, the units boast amenities like teleporters, floating balconies, sky bridges, secret rooms, sound systems, and much, much more.
Interspersed on each level and on dedicated floors, public areas include many multifunctional spaces like the VERTIKAL Dome, the Observatory, party gardens, the Grand Concert Hall, and even an ice rink and roller coaster! And apparently, a secret underground art vault.
Each space houses a rich, community-driven program of events, public art commissions, artist residencies, cocktails spots, galas, and concerts with both real-world and metaverse figures.
A tribute to New York City’s art and NFT scenes
Location matters in the virtual world as it does in the real one. So it’s no surprise that VERTIKAL is being built in New York City. More precisely, VERTIKAL floats 555 feet above Umpire Rock in Central Park.
Close to the Guggenheim, The Met, the MoMA — and Museum Mile (one of the largest concentrations of culture in the Western Hemisphere); VERTIKAL exists in the company of the giants of the art world.
Further afield, the Big Apple as a whole is has been highly receptive to the NFT art scene and crucial in heralding NFT culture.
Then, of course, the glorious Manhattan skyline makes a superb backdrop when sitting on the terrace of a penthouse on the 99th level of VERTIKAL.
